WHAT
DO WE SUGGEST?
Our mission
We believe that, if poverty is to disappear from the world, the solution must come from the local communities concerned and not just from one-off external assistance. Our aim is to contribute towards the emergence and development of sound local organizations delivering innovative responses to the challenges of poverty and exclusion in the world.
Identifying and supporting local partners is vital to our work. We implement and oversee multi-year projects together with these local organizations. Acting for Life uses "resource people" to evaluate these projects in a professional and entirely unbiased manner.
All projects receive long-term support (from three to five years on average), with a view to enabling the local organizations and programmes to become self-supporting. Spin-offs then reproduce "pilot" initiatives and allow talent to flourish by building on the lessons learned from experience.

Economics, Stakeholders and Local Focus
We support innovative local initiatives designed to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable local communities, especially in rural areas.
Child Protection and Youth Promotion
In partnership with the ECPAT Internationalnetwork, we adopt a comprehensive approach, from prevention through to professional reintegration, in our work to combat trafficking, prostitution and exploitation of children.
Tourism, Ethics and Development.
We are taking action in favour of ethical, sustainable tourist development aimed at reducing poverty, by disseminating methods and good practice amongst public and voluntary bodies and enterprises in the tourist sector, especially small, medium and micro-enterprises.
Acting for Life – Enterprise
We are supporting local organizations in the South to develop businesses helping vulnerable people: micro-finance, micro-insurance, reintegration workshops, etc. These social enterprises offer a powerful, innovative and sustainable response to the challenges of poverty.
